Types of Insurance
Property insurance is generally subdivided into real and personal property coverage. In simplest terms, real property is buildings, structures and anything permanently affixed to them. Personal property can be considered everything else. For insurance purposes, however, it is usually subdivided further into the categories of raw material, finished goods, stock and supplies, personal property of employees, machinery and equipment, and furniture and fixtures.
Graphically, property insurance would look something like this:
Property Insurances:
Finished Goods
Stock & Supplies
Raw Materials
Furniture & Fixtures
Machinery & Equipment
Personal Property
